The ferry pier located on Fisherman's Wharf is within the San Francisco Maritime National Historic Park and features the historic vessels of the Balclutha, C.A. Thayer, Eureka, Alma, Hercules, Epleton Hall, San Francisco Bay Ark and the Wampama. Hyde Street Pier was an important vehicle ferry terminal before the Golden Gate and San Francisco-Oakland Bay bridges were constructed. It was built in 1922 to be a Golden Gate Ferry Company station.
